Seventy- two people have died from Lassa fever since the start of the year , the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC ) said Wednesday.
On February 6 , the health ministry had reported 31 deaths from the disease, which is caused by a virus of the same family as Marburg and Ebola .
